We designed, planned and made our own healthy meal (salad) which contained ingredients from all of the food groups (with the exception of carbohydrates).
We generated lists of these foods and then worked together in groups of 5 to create a recipe and to make our dish. We evaluated them as we ate them.
Our next challenge was to create another salad which contained a small amount of carbohydrates. We all made our own salads for a member of our family.
Take a look at our photos, which will let you see how we got on.
Today we read a story called Spaghetti and meatballs for all. It was a story about a husband and wife who wanted to host a family reunion. They knew they were going gong to have 32 guests, so Mrs Comfort (the wife) drew up a fantastic seating plan using 8 tables and 32 chairs…
However, once the guests started to arrive and move the tables around, things became slightly more complicated!
We enjoyed working in mixed groups today to use our knowledge of area and perimeter to investigate different ways Mr and Mrs Comfort could have arranged the tables and chairs to seat all of their guests.
This week we read a book called ‘Each orange had 8 slices.’ We read and solved the maths problems in the book working with our maths partners, and enjoyed it so much that we decided to make our own version of the story with our own maths problems and settings!
Here is a sneak peek of the behind the scenes book creation. Look out for the finished book in the corridor by the Year 4 classroom soon!
